The works assembled in this volume trace Izu’s journeys to sacred sites across the world, from the ancient temples of Cambodia and the vast spiritual landscapes of India to the historic monuments of the Middle East and Europe. Rather than approaching these places as mere architectural subjects, Izu immerses himself in their atmosphere. He spends time observing the rhythms of daily worship, often engaging in meditation as a way of attuning himself to the environment. Working in countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, Janssen spends extended time within communities, building relationships based on trust and respect. His approach allows him to move beyond observation, revealing deeply human and authentic moments.

Anastasia Samoylova is an American artist whose photographic practice is shaped by close observation and a deep attentiveness to place. Since relocating to Miami in 2016, her work has increasingly focused on how environments—both natural and built—carry social, cultural, and emotional traces.
