Tanya Bonakdar Gallery
Los Angeles - 1010 N Highland Ave - CA 90038
Since its founding in 1994, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery has emerged as a cornerstone of the contemporary art scene, known for its ambitious programming and commitment to artists working across a wide spectrum of media. From painting and sculpture to video, installation, and photography, the gallery maintains a dynamic and forward-looking approach to contemporary art presentation and discourse.

Originally located on Prince Street in SoHo, the gallery relocated in 1998 to West 21st Street in Chelsea, positioning itself in what would become one of the most vital gallery districts in New York. In 2006, it expanded significantly following a major renovation, doubling its exhibition space and enhancing its capacity for large-scale installations and diverse projects. In 2018, the gallery extended its reach with the opening of a Los Angeles space on Highland Avenue, deepening its presence on the West Coast and expanding opportunities for artists and audiences alike.

Over the decades, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery has played a formative role in the careers of many influential international artists. The gallery has consistently introduced new voices to the American art world, offering many artists their first solo shows in New York or the United States. The roster includes renowned names such as Olafur Eliasson, Ernesto Neto, Sarah Sze, and Gillian Wearing, among others—artists whose practices engage with both material experimentation and critical thought.

Through a rigorous annual schedule of rotating exhibitions and its dedication to long-term artist relationships, the gallery fosters a platform where creative exploration and institutional dialogue thrive. Tanya Bonakdar Gallery continues to support its artists not only within its own walls, but through collaborations with major museums and curators worldwide, reinforcing its role as a key player in shaping the narrative of contemporary art today.
