Tampa Museum of Art

The Tampa Museum of Art, founded in 1920, has long been a cornerstone of culture and creativity in downtown Tampa. Today, the museum is known for its balance of ancient and modern, housing one of the largest and most important collections of Greek and Roman antiquities in the southeastern United States alongside an evolving collection of modern and contemporary art. From sculpture and painting to photography, textiles, and new media, the museum provides an expansive view of human creativity across civilizations.

Education has always been at the heart of the museum’s mission. Through the Vinik Family Education Center, the Tampa Museum of Art offers classes, tours, and lectures that serve visitors of all ages and levels of experience. The museum also extends its reach beyond its walls through innovative community initiatives, including art-therapy-informed projects and outreach efforts that connect with diverse audiences.

Marking its centennial, the museum launched the Centennial Campaign for Renovation and Expansion in 2020, a bold vision to prepare the institution for its next century of service. A major renovation of the existing facility was completed in 2023, modernizing the building and expanding the visitor experience. Looking ahead, the museum plans to break ground in fall 2025 on a transformative expansion that will more than double its size. This project will introduce new galleries, cutting-edge educational spaces, and immersive environments designed to bring art and people closer together.
