Dennos Museum Center

The Dennos Museum Center, located on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, is a vibrant cultural hub that connects community, creativity, and conversation through the arts. Since opening its doors in 1991, the museum has become a leading destination for visual and performing arts in northern Michigan, welcoming visitors of all ages to engage with its rich and varied programming.

Central to the museum’s identity is its dedication to presenting regional, national, and international art spanning the 19th to the 21st centuries. Its collection is notably anchored by one of the most comprehensive assemblies of Inuit art in the United States—featuring sculptures and prints that reflect the rich heritage and expressive traditions of the Canadian Arctic. In addition to its indoor galleries, the museum is surrounded by a striking collection of outdoor sculptures created by both Michigan-based and international artists.

The museum’s programming extends beyond exhibitions to include performances, lectures, and film screenings in the Milliken Auditorium, which draws world-class talent to its stage. The Discovery Gallery offers a hands-on experience for younger audiences, encouraging curiosity and learning through interactive exploration. The Museum Store, a local favorite, features a curated selection of art-inspired items and collectible Inuit artworks.
