Yossi Milo Gallery
New York - 245 Tenth Avenue - NY 10001
Yossi Milo Gallery, founded in 2000, is a cornerstone of New York’s contemporary art landscape, known for its discerning eye and dedication to artists pushing the boundaries of visual expression. Initially celebrated as a leading photography gallery, Yossi Milo has evolved to present a wide range of practices, now showcasing a dynamic roster of international artists working across media—from photography and painting to sculpture and installation.

Located in the heart of Chelsea at 245 10th Avenue since 2012, the gallery serves as a platform for artists whose work engages deeply with contemporary culture, politics, and identity. From its earliest exhibitions, the gallery has championed bold and thought-provoking voices. Highlights include Kohei Yoshiyuki’s “The Park,” which gained international acclaim for its daring depiction of Tokyo’s nightlife, and Pieter Hugo’s unforgettable debut, “The Hyena and Other Men,” which introduced a fresh photographic perspective to the global art world.

Yossi Milo has not only presented groundbreaking contemporary shows but also represents the estates of important figures such as Ezra Stoller and Tim Hetherington, preserving and promoting their influential legacies. More recently, the gallery has expanded its programming to reflect diverse narratives and urgent themes. Exhibitions like “Intimacy” have explored the interwoven histories of queer art and the HIV/AIDS crisis, fostering multigenerational dialogue through visual storytelling.

The gallery is also a key collaborator in the art publishing world, co-producing beautifully crafted monographs with Radius Books, further amplifying the reach and impact of the artists it represents. Recent projects have included works by Alison Rossiter, Meghann Riepenhoff, and Kohei Yoshiyuki.

Today, Yossi Milo Gallery continues to lead with vision, offering a space where innovation, history, and artistic courage intersect—inviting viewers to discover powerful stories told through extraordinary art.

Through her raw and poetic lens, F. Bessma Rhea presents Gutter Duchess, a deeply personal photographic series that examines the contradictions and complexities of womanhood — fragility and strength, silence and voice, vulnerability and power.
