This collection of images is an extension of the
Conversations with Myself work. In it I continue
to comment on the complexities of being a modern woman, juggling the expectations of the
classic female roles, embedded in me and our social structure, and the self-pursuant drive n to be an artist and individual.
My focus has become more psychological, as I continue to depict a woman’s state of mind, less costume driven referencing history, in real time.
Indeed the full body of work is a “coming of age crusade” during which I resolved the inner conflict of the womanhood imperative I’d inherited from the 1950’s model. With resolve I was able to move away, above and beyond it.
It is a declaration of courage, confidence and independence, I hope this series serves as inspiration to others, and an invitation to look honestly at the past, question its hold, and to move forward with a truer sense of self.
