Roanoke - 110 Salem Ave SE - VA 24011
The Taubman Museum of Art, located in Roanoke, Virginia, is a dynamic cultural institution dedicated to showcasing a diverse range of artistic expression. Established in 2008, the museum is housed in a striking contemporary building designed by architect Randall Stout, whose dramatic use of glass, steel, and geometric forms creates an architectural landmark in the city’s downtown area.

The museum's collection features an impressive array of American art, with works spanning from the 19th century to contemporary pieces. Highlights include regional Appalachian artists, modernist painters, and notable works by prominent American artists. The collection reflects both national artistic movements and the unique cultural heritage of Southwest Virginia.

In addition to its permanent collection, the Taubman Museum of Art hosts rotating exhibitions that bring nationally and internationally recognized artists to the region. These exhibitions cover a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and new media, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for visitors.

Education and community engagement are central to the museum’s mission. The Taubman Museum offers a variety of programs designed for all ages, including art classes, hands-on workshops, artist talks, and educational initiatives for schools. Special events, such as family days and interactive activities, provide opportunities for deeper engagement with art.
