Where the Earth Remembers explores the relationship between humanity, memory, faith, and the land. Rooted in the rural landscapes of Central and Eastern Europe, the work reflects on what endures as traditional ways of life slowly disappear. Daily existence within these communities is shaped by repetitive labor, rituals, and rhythms passed quietly from one generation to the next. Worn walls, scarred hands, and fading interiors carry the weight of untold histories, while faith remains woven into routine, hardship, and daily life. This relationship to the land is grounded in balance and coherence with nature rather than excess or control.
Engaging with these communities required patience, vulnerability, and empathy. Having grown up on a farm in Switzerland, the rhythms of agricultural life felt deeply familiar, yet I still had to step into realities vastly different from my own. This shared baseline allowed me to treat photography as an act of connection rather than extraction. Ultimately, Where the Earth Remembers is a quiet testament to the endurance of memory and belonging in a changing world.
