Los Angeles - 1110 Mateo St. - CA 90021
Luis De Jesus Los Angeles is a contemporary art gallery known for its inclusive vision and critical engagement with global and regional conversations in art. Since its founding, the gallery has consistently championed artists whose work examines cultural identity, social justice, politics, gender, and the aesthetics of representation. With a diverse roster that reflects the multiplicity of perspectives shaping today's art world, Luis De Jesus Los Angeles fosters a platform where voices from Latinx, Black, and Asian diasporas thrive alongside other emerging and established creators.
The gallery's commitment to equity is evident not only in its programming but also in its structure—achieving gender parity and broad cultural representation among its artists. Many of these artists have achieved national and international acclaim, participating in biennials, museum exhibitions, and art fairs, and seeing their work acquired by major institutions and prominent collections.
Founded originally in San Diego in 2007 as Seminal Projects, the gallery evolved through a series of strategic moves, settling into its current home in downtown Los Angeles in 2021. This new location, on the edge of the Arts District, offers a spacious and flexible environment for large-scale projects, immersive installations, and experimental exhibitions.
Luis De Jesus brings decades of experience to the gallery, including formative years spent working in New York’s art scene. Alongside partner Jay Wingate, the gallery has become a vital presence in Los Angeles and beyond. A member of the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) and New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), the gallery continues to engage with collectors, curators, and scholars through ambitious exhibitions and collaborative partnerships.
With each show, Luis De Jesus Los Angeles deepens its mission to foreground underrepresented narratives, challenge conventional boundaries, and offer a bold, evolving vision of contemporary art.
