The Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA) stands as a pioneering force at the intersection of art and technology. Since its founding in 2004 by artist and director Rex Bruce, LACDA has served as a dynamic platform for showcasing digital and new media art in all its evolving forms. The gallery quickly became a cultural hub in downtown Los Angeles, presenting an ambitious range of exhibitions, screenings, and collaborative projects with institutions both local and international.

Over the years, LACDA has worked with esteemed curators and organizations such as Centre Pompidou, The Broad, the Guggenheim Gallery at Chapman University, and the California Museum of Photography. It has played a significant role in juried exhibitions, bringing together voices from major museums like MoCA, LACMA, and the Hammer to help select and celebrate cutting-edge digital artists. With its consistent involvement in art fairs and festivals—including photoLA and the Downtown LA Art Walk—LACDA has established itself as a vital venue for digital creators and thinkers alike.

Though the gallery was temporarily shuttered during the pandemic, LACDA is poised for a vibrant return. Rex Bruce, a longtime advocate for digital art since the early 1990s, has made a remarkable recovery from recent health challenges and is ready to reignite LACDA’s mission. With a renewed energy, the gallery seeks to deepen its roots and continue fostering dialogue around the fusion of art and technology.

As digital media continues to expand the language of contemporary art, LACDA remains committed to nurturing this progression. Through community engagement, innovative programming, and a focus on techno-cultural exploration, LACDA is charting an exciting path forward for artists and audiences ready to embrace the future of visual expression.

All About Photo Presents ’Rural Life in the Hudson Valley’ by Susan Anthony
The photographs in this exhibition are part of a project about rural life in the Hudson Valley. For the past five years, I have been taking photographs of individuals and families in upstate New York. Having spent many years as a weekender and homeowner, most of the people I knew were other New Yorkers, and I never had the chance to meet people who grew up in this rural area. During the pandemic, I spent many hours outside with my camera, walking along the road and photographing local residents. Eventually, I decided to create a project about the people I met. Now, as some of these individuals have become friends, I continue to meet others whose families have lived in this area for many generations.
Matthew Arthur Williams:  In Consideration of Our Times
Stills presents an exhibition of new photography by Matthew Arthur Williams. Williams is a Glasgow-based artist who has become known for a visual arts practice that explores themes of race, queerness, memory and history. A key concern that he addresses in his work is the absence of representation and how this can be perpetuated by formal histories and archives.
