Sous Les Etoiles Gallery
New York - 16 East 71st Street - NY 10021
Sous Les Etoiles Gallery, founded in 2006 by Corinne Tapia, has carved out a distinguished place in the international photography scene with its unwavering dedication to the medium's narrative power. Originally located in Soho’s historic Photo Building, the gallery transitioned in 2021 to New York’s Upper East Side, continuing its mission from its elegant new space on East 71st Street.

The gallery’s program focuses on fine art photography and photo-based art, representing a diverse group of emerging and established artists whose practices span landscape, abstraction, documentary, mixed media, and conceptual exploration. This variety reflects a commitment to the depth and versatility of photography as a form of visual storytelling and artistic expression.

Sous Les Etoiles has championed voices that challenge and expand photographic traditions while preserving important legacies. In addition to showcasing contemporary talents, the gallery represents the estate of Alberto Korda, the famed Cuban photographer known for his iconic portrait of Che Guevara. This thoughtful balance between the historical and the contemporary is a defining characteristic of the gallery's curatorial approach.

Beyond exhibitions, Sous Les Etoiles actively engages with the broader photographic community through artist talks, lectures, and international art fairs such as Paris Photo, AIPAD, and Art Miami. These efforts are complemented by the publication of portfolios and exhibition catalogs that further document and promote the gallery’s vision.

Corinne Tapia brings over two decades of expertise as a curator and photography advocate, regularly participating in portfolio reviews at prestigious institutions around the world. Her collaborative approach has helped develop lasting relationships between artists, collectors, and institutions.

A member of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD), Sous Les Etoiles Gallery continues to foster an environment where photography is not only seen but deeply understood and appreciated.

Growing Up Travelling by Jamie Johnson
I have spent my entire career photographing children all over the world. The last several years I have focused my eyes on the Irish Traveller that live in caravans on the side of the road or in open fields throughout Ireland. The Traveller community are an Irish nomadic indigenous ethnic minority. There is no recorded date as to when Travellers first came to Ireland. This is lost to history, but Travellers have been recorded to exist in Ireland as far back as history is recorded. Even with their great history they live as outsiders to society and face unbelievable racism growing up. As a mother of two daughters, I became so interested in the culture and traditions and lives of these children. I have spent many years traveling back and forth to Ireland to document these incredible children.
