Founded in 1991 as Wooster Gardens in Soho, Sikkema Jenkins & Co. has evolved into one of New York’s leading contemporary art galleries, now firmly rooted in the Chelsea arts district. The gallery represents over thirty internationally recognized artists whose practices span painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and installation. From the beginning, the gallery has cultivated long-term relationships with influential artists such as Kara Walker, Vik Muniz, and Arturo Herrera—figures whose careers have significantly shaped contemporary visual culture. Many of the gallery’s artists have been honored with major awards including the MacArthur Fellowship, Guggenheim Fellowship, and USA Artists awards. Michael Jenkins joined founder Brent Sikkema as a partner in 2003, followed by Meg Malloy in 2005, helping to shape the gallery’s curatorial direction with a collaborative vision and a deep respect for artistic integrity.
