Peter Blum Gallery
New York - 176 Grand Street - NY 10013
Peter Blum Gallery has long been a significant presence in the international art world, built on decades of collaboration with some of the most influential artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Peter Blum began his career in 1971 at Galerie Beyeler in Basel, Switzerland, before relocating to New York, where he launched Peter Blum Edition in 1980. This initiative established him as a forward-thinking print publisher, producing groundbreaking editions with artists like Louise Bourgeois, Alex Katz, Barbara Kruger, and James Turrell.

Blum’s deep commitment to contemporary art took further shape with the opening of Peter Blum Gallery in 1993, initially located in SoHo. Over the years, the gallery has been recognized for presenting ambitious solo exhibitions and thoughtful historical surveys, showcasing an impressive range of artists from Yayoi Kusama and Agnes Martin to Ad Reinhardt and Kazimir Malevich. With each exhibition, Blum has nurtured a dialogue between contemporary innovation and historical legacy.

The gallery expanded to Chelsea in 2006 and later to Midtown Manhattan in 2013, before settling into its current location on Grand Street in Downtown New York. The new space, with over 7,000 square feet, has allowed for large-scale installations and ambitious solo presentations by artists such as Joyce J. Scott, Su-Mei Tse, and Nicholas Galanin.

In addition to its exhibitions, the gallery maintains a strong presence in the world of printmaking. The Peter Blum Edition Archive has been recognized in major museum exhibitions, affirming Blum’s legacy as a key figure in the history of contemporary editions.

A member of ADAA and IFPDA, the gallery upholds rigorous standards of scholarship and ethical practice, offering expert consultation and art placement services for collectors and institutions alike.
