Galerie Lelong & Co.
New York - 528 West 26th Street - NY 10001
Galerie Lelong & Co., located in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, has been a prominent voice in contemporary art since its establishment in 1991. Known for its commitment to global perspectives and social engagement, the gallery represents an international roster of artists whose work resonates deeply with issues of cultural identity, political consciousness, and the human condition. Under the leadership of Mary Sabbatino, Vice President and Partner, Galerie Lelong & Co. has consistently advanced the visibility of artists from the Global South, as well as maintained a balanced representation of male and female artists—long before parity became a broader institutional goal.

The gallery’s program is distinguished by its critical edge and curatorial rigor, offering museum-quality exhibitions that encompass a wide range of media, from sculpture and painting to performance and immersive installations. Many of the gallery’s artists address themes such as memory, displacement, and resistance, creating work that invites dialogue and reflection. Beyond the traditional gallery space, Galerie Lelong & Co. is deeply involved in the production of large-scale public art commissions, partnering with institutions and municipalities to bring ambitious artistic visions into the public sphere.

Originally founded in Paris in 1981 by Daniel Lelong, Jacques Dupin, and Jean Frémon, the gallery expanded to New York in 1985, anchoring its presence in the city’s art scene. Since 2001, its ground-floor space in Chelsea has served as a vital hub for both established and emerging voices in contemporary art. A member of the Art Dealers Association of America, the gallery upholds a standard of excellence in its exhibitions and artist collaborations.

Galerie Lelong & Co. continues to be guided by a philosophy of artistic integrity, cultural inclusion, and civic responsibility—demonstrating that contemporary art can be both aesthetically compelling and socially engaged.
