Crossing Art Gallery, founded by Catherine Lee, is a dynamic platform dedicated to fostering cross-cultural dialogue through contemporary art. Established in 2008 in Queens, New York, the gallery emerged with a mission to make art accessible beyond traditional boundaries, believing in the power of creative expression to connect diverse audiences and perspectives.

Over the years, Crossing Art has curated more than sixty exhibitions and public art projects across New York City, working in collaboration with global artists and institutions. The gallery’s programming has consistently emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, often drawing on its unique connection between North America and Asia to spotlight emerging talent and underrepresented voices.

During its time in Queens, Crossing Art contributed significantly to the local arts landscape. Catherine Lee’s involvement as a trustee of the Queens Council on the Arts and the Queens Library Foundation reflected the gallery’s broader commitment to community engagement. Her efforts earned recognition from city leaders, including the Rising Star Award from Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

In 2014, the gallery shifted focus to curating public art projects in both New York and China, strengthening its international presence. By 2018, it had relocated to Chelsea, sharing space with its sister initiative, Crossing Collective. With representative offices in Shanghai, the gallery continues to play a key role in bridging East and West, promoting contemporary artists whose work is informed by Asian heritage and global influences.
