Head On Photo Festival represents the best work from established and emerging photographers globally. Our 2025 Festival will be a mix of online and in-person exhibitions and events across Sydney, Australia. Select exhibitions may also tour nationally and internationally.

Underscoring our belief that all photo artists need a fair chance to show their work, our selection panel reviews exhibition proposals without the artists’ names or pedigrees, ensuring that Head On selects work on merit.

Once the review process is complete, successful applicants will be invited to exhibit as part of the Head On Photo Festival. We cover production and curatorial costs for selected exhibitions.

There is only a thin membrane between what the world sees and the lived reality of my life. I may seem fine as I mask the pain, but if you excavate, even just a little, you will find it is all completely raw. I am lost in the ebb and flow of pain, of heartbreak and despair. I am angry. I am difficult. I am defeated
