Eligibility: Contestants must 18 years old to participate and shall not be on the staff of The Motif Collective or an immediate family member of the staff.

Entry Fees: Between $12 and $36

Prize: Cash Prize

Portrait is the theme for this months competition.
Faces and silhouettes of passers by, or beautifully executed, controlled studio shots, The Portrait has always been at the core of the Art of Photography. Since its creation, we have found that the camera in our hands favors the faces and spirit of all people of all ages.

Share with us your best frames and moments showing your vision of an inspirational Portrait!

Works will be selected based on creativity, quality of execution and uniqueness of vision. The work can be expressed from realism to abstraction.

Cash Awards up to $10,000 the Top Three Photographers

First Place also receives an additional $400 in photography products and services with:

Dörte Eisseldt Wins the Viviane Esders Prize

Convened by Viviane Esders, the jury has awarded the 2025 Viviane Esders Prize to German photographer Dörte Eißfeldt. The laureate will be officially announced on November 3 during a ceremony at the INHA (Institut National de l’Histoire de l’Art) in Paris and in her presence. She will receive an endowment of €50,000, while the two other finalists, Oleksandr Suprun and Bohdan Holomíček, will each receive €5,000 and will also attend the event. The jury chose to honor an artistic practice sustained over more than forty years, distinguished by its coherence, poetry, and deep reflection on the photographic medium—qualities that particularly captivated the jury’s attention in Dörte Eißfeldt’s work.
