Lois Lambert Gallery is a dynamic force in the Los Angeles art scene, known for its diverse programming and commitment to showcasing thought-provoking, contemporary work. Originally opened in 1987 as the Gallery of Functional Art, the space found its first home in the architecturally iconic Edgemar building designed by Frank Gehry. In 1994, the gallery transitioned to its current location at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, evolving into the Lois Lambert Gallery and expanding its vision.
Dedicated to representing a broad range of emerging and mid-career artists, both local and international, the gallery features works across a spectrum of media including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. With an eye for originality and depth, the gallery curates exhibitions that invite reflection, dialogue, and engagement with contemporary social and cultural ideas.
In addition to the main gallery, Lois Lambert has grown the space to include several distinct venues. The adjacent Gallery Store offers a curated selection of high design and artist-made objects, blurring the line between fine art and functional creativity. The Project Room provides an intimate environment for focused exhibitions, often highlighting experimental or conceptual works. In 2017, the gallery expanded further with the addition of the Upstairs Gallery, allowing for a greater number of artists and exhibitions to be shown simultaneously.
Today, the gallery represents over 100 artists from across the globe, including regions such as the United States, Latin America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Lois Lambert Gallery continues to be a vibrant platform for artistic exploration, celebrated for its dedication to originality and its ability to bring compelling, diverse voices to a wide audience.
