Manifest exhibits many kinds of works, from more conceptual and experimental art to the traditional.
In fact we think it's important to have such a range in our repertoire.
It is something that Manifest is known for.
Every year our annual projects allow us to track how artists around the world address a consistent theme, subject, or media over time, or allow us to document the state of art in a particular strata of professional creative activity, and to study and preserve our findings in a meaningful way through our exhibit publications and website.
NUDE is one such project.
The human body is a popular subject for many reasons, the most obvious being that it is us.
Throughout history (and prehistory) the representation of the human form has been charged with tremendous energy.
Whether it be a religious edict that one should not depict the human form—a taboo, or the glorious opposite—a revelation of mastery over form in the crafting of sensuous and life-like physical human beauty, the art of the body has moved us through time.
Through all the permutations art has experienced across history, work of the body persists.
We use the human nude to master skill, understand ourselves, and push social and psychological buttons for the sake of expression (sensual, delicate, political, social, narrative, spiritual, and so on).
We intend for Manifest's ongoing annual NUDE project, now in its 18th year, to explore how our collective body is used today in art to achieve these goals and more.
This year we are again happy to offer our invitation to artists to submit works in any media, of any style or genre (abstract, conceptual, realistic, etc.), and of any size, for consideration in Manifest's 18th annual NUDE, an international competitive exhibit exploring the uncovered human form in current art.
EXHIBITING ARTIST HONORARIA
Each participating exhibitor will receive a $50 honorarium.
This honorarium comes with no conditions (other than full participation in the relevant exhibition).
It is a modest token of appreciation for collaborating with us as we shape our future.
We also recognize that it may serve as practical support toward shipping, framing, delivery, or travel expenses to attend Manifest’s exhibition events.*
$9,000 IN GRAND JURY AWARDS
Since Manifest’s 13th season, the annual Grand Jury Award has recognized one exhibited work each year with a significant, jury-determined cash prize, representing the “best of the best” across all exhibitions presented that year.
As we transitioned into Manifest’s 20th season as an arts organization by artists, for artists, we introduced a major change.
The Grand Jury Award now grants $1,000 to one work during each of our nine exhibition periods.
This expands our support from one to up to nine exhibiting artists annually and increases funding by 80% to better recognize the merit of exhibited works.
For each exhibition period, the recipient will be selected through a re-jury process from the pool of top-scoring works from each show’s initial jury.
This process applies to all exhibitions in our 22nd season beginning September 26, 2025, through August 2026, including this one.*
All Manifest awards are supported in large part by the Manifest Annual Fund, made possible through direct contributions from individuals across the country and beyond.
As such, awards may be subject to revision due to pandemics, funding conditions, or circumstances beyond our control.
Honoraria will be issued by check or electronically, at Manifest’s discretion, within 30 days following the close of each exhibition.
