Raw Photo Fest invites photographers from around the world to take part in the first edition of a festival that reimagines how we experience photography. From May 7–10, 2026, Alaior, on the island of Menorca, Spain, will transform into a living gallery, where images leave the white walls behind and come to life in streets, convents, cafés, private homes, and open landscapes.

We're looking for photographers whose work tells real, human stories, whether it's exploring moments on the street, journeys across cultures, politics, and history, or glimpses into daily life. There's no theme; what connects all submissions is the art of storytelling.

This year's open call features two sections:

• International Open Call – open to photographers from around the world.
• Balearic Islands Open Call – dedicated to photographers based in or connected to the Balearic Islands.

Selected photographers will have their work exhibited alongside internationally acclaimed photographers such as Steve McCurry, Alex Webb, Rebecca Norris Webb, Martin Parr, Cristina de Middel, to name a few, for four days of discovery, dialogue, and inspiration.

What winners receive

A total of 15,000€ in cash prizes distributed in the following way:

International & Balearic Series winners
• 5,000€ cash prize each
• An exhibition at the festival alongside some of the most famous photographers in the world
• Their stories featured in The Raw Society Magazine Issue V
• Free accommodation in Menorca, Spain during the festival

International & Balearic Singles winners:
• 1,500€ cash prize each
• Exhibited at the festival alongside some of the most famous photographers in the world
• Free accommodation in Menorca, Spain during the festival

Two International & Two Balearic Singles Finalists:
• 500€ cash prize each
• Exhibited at the festival alongside some of the most famous photographers in the world
• Free accommodation in Menorca, Spain during the festival

Production costs for the exhibitions are fully covered by the festival.

Focus: Shadow and Light

Photography is the recording of patterns of darkness and light. Shadows enhance the relationships of subjects in an image, they give definition and dimension, which compliments the quality of the light values. Dörte Eisseldt Wins the Viviane Esders Prize

Convened by Viviane Esders, the jury has awarded the 2025 Viviane Esders Prize to German photographer Dörte Eißfeldt. The laureate will be officially announced on November 3 during a ceremony at the INHA (Institut National de l’Histoire de l’Art) in Paris and in her presence. She will receive an endowment of €50,000, while the two other finalists, Oleksandr Suprun and Bohdan Holomíček, will each receive €5,000 and will also attend the event. The jury chose to honor an artistic practice sustained over more than forty years, distinguished by its coherence, poetry, and deep reflection on the photographic medium—qualities that particularly captivated the jury’s attention in Dörte Eißfeldt’s work.
