PhotoAlliance is proud to announce an open call for Bay Area Current(ly), a photographic competition. We are looking for images that represent a cohesive body of work or project. Submissions may be new, recently completed, or part of an on-going project, but must include work that has been made since June 2019. A typical submission will consist of 5 images that capture the essence of your project, although there is no restriction on the number of images you submit.

Bay Area Current(ly) is open to anyone who has ever resided in, or is currently a resident of any of the nine counties that surround the San Francisco Bay. This is the second iteration of our Bay Area Currents series established to provide an opportunity for local artists working with photography to exhibit in the Bay Area and to discover and connect with other artists in the community. See selected works from 2018 Bay Area Currents competition.

There is no single theme for this call, instead we are looking to see what you have been up to of late. A broad range of interpretations through photography is invited, including documentary, expressive, or experimental. Submissions may be depicted in any style and utilize any process or camera type.

The 2020 Bay Area Current(ly) exhibition will be an online exhibition, appearing on the PhotoAlliance website from November 1 through December 31, 2020.

We are pleased to announce LACP's 5th Annual Fine Art Exhibition - the theme is Exploring Humanity.

The exhibition will be shown online/virtually on our website and will run from October 22 – December 31, 2020. Artists in the exhibition will also receive extensive social media coverage.

The juror, international curator Marisa Caicholo, will select images based on creativity, originality, and quality. The deadline is Monday, September 21st at midnight PT. There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted.

There will be a virtual reception on Saturday, November 14, 4 pm PST where the work in the exhibition will be shown and the juror, Marisa Caicholo, will talk about her selections. This will be a public event.

Prizes
1st prize winner receive a $500 cash prize and invited to say a few words/remarks during the virtual opening reception. Honorable mentions will receive a one year Membership to LACP ($95 value).

The Alexia 2020 Competition will begin accepting applications on Sept. 14, 2020.
The deadline for the 2020 competition is Oct. 5, 2020.
The Alexia offers a professional Alexia Grant to enable professional photographers and visual journalists to produce substantial bodies of work that share The Alexia's goals of promoting world peace and cultural understanding. Work that helps bring about change is more valued.

The Professional Grant recipient will receive $20,000 for the production of the proposed project.

Submit a body of work consisting of UP TO twenty (20) photographs - do not feel compelled to submit 20. Photographs should demonstrate your ability to accomplish your proposed project. If you submit photos that are not related to your proposal, they must have been taken within the past three (3) years. There is no time limit on pictures that relate directly to your proposal. Select and sequence your submission thoughtfully.

Leica Camera USA is pleased to announce the second annual Leica Women Foto Project Award, a juried program where three photographers will receive an award to support a personal project relevant to today's social and political climate, as told through the female perspective. The mission of the Leica Women Foto Project is to encourage and empower photographers to demonstrate the importance and impact of a female's point of view. The award serves as a catalyst to re-frame how we see, how we think, and how we express our visual narrative.

Applicants are reviewed on the basis of quality of photography, dedication to the medium of photography, sophistication of project, as expressed through the female perspective with narratives that broaden perspectives, ideas and conversations on today's social climate.

In addition to the financial award ($10,000), each winner will receive a new Leica Q2 to use for the completion of their photographic series onward.

Candidates for the award are requested to submit a series of 10 images from an ongoing personal or long-term project, made on any digital or film camera of any make, model or brand, with at least 4 images created in either 2019 or 2020. Alongside the images, applicants are required to submit a 250 word proposal describing their personal project and its relevance in today's social climate, including detail of how the funds will be allocated.

PHmuseum is glad to open the call of the PHmuseum 2020 Women Photographers Grant, aimed at empowering the work and careers of female and non-binary professionals of all ages and from all countries, working in diverse areas of photography. Moving into the fourth edition, the grant's mission remains to support the growth of the new generations and promote stories narrated from a female perspective, while responding to the need to work for gender equality in the industry.

The prizes include $12,000 in cash prizes plus several opportunities to promote the awarded works across media and festivals. Vogue Italia photography department, led by Alessia Glaviano, will select three works among all of the submissions that will be granted an online publication in the magazine. All the shortlisted works (up to 40) will be also projected at the coming edition of Photo Vogue Festival.

PHmuseum’s curators will further select eight photographers who will each access a free 60-minute online portfolio review from the innovative PHmuseum Educational Program, plus an additional three who will be featured on the Swiss online publication YET Magazine. The New Generation Prize, awarded to a photographer under 30 years of age, will include a one-hour online portfolio review with Fiona Rogers, Founder of Firecracker and Director of Photography & Operations at Webber. Firecracker will also feature the 1st prize winner project on its platform.

Applicants are invited to enter series, featuring a minimum of 6 images and a maximum of 20 centered, around a specific theme, narrative, or concept. All approaches are welcomed, from classic narratives to experimental projects. Submissions will be reviewed by judges Adama Delphine Fawundu (Artist and co-founder of MFON), Mariama Attah (Curator at Open Eye Gallery Photography Museum in Liverpool), Magdalena Herrera (Director of Photography Geo France) and River Bullock (Curatorial Fellow, MoMA Department of Photography). Photographers can benefit from a £18 early bird fee during the first two weeks of the application window.

This fourth edition is kindly supported by Vogue Italia, Fotografia Europea, YET Magazine, Firecracker, Foto Feminas, and Fotografas Latam.

The acclaimed photography grant contest from Gomma. Open to everyone. The seventh year in the making. From this year a new concept and submission procedure.

The Gomma Photography Grant is a grant contest tailored to fund and support photographers working in various genre. Begun in 2014, the Gomma Grant has quickly acquired a reputation for being ethical and quality-focused, with an eye for spotting fresh talent and encouraging those already in the spotlight. Photographers that are recognized through the Gomma Grant are known to have grown their career to a higher level, both professionally and artistically.

This year photographers will be able to submit through a donation-based procedure. Submissions are free and photographers can choose to donate between zero and 150 euros.

We have also decided to donate all profits generated to charities battling COVID-19. The current three charities chosen are: Emergency, Italy, NHS Together, UK, CDC Foundation, USA
