Founded in 1997 by Rik Gadella,
Paris Photo began as a small gathering of international galleries at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. From the start, the fair was dedicated to celebrating photography as an art form, offering a platform for collectors, artists, and enthusiasts to explore the evolving language of the photographic image.
Over nearly three decades, Paris Photo has grown into the world’s leading photography art fair. It has evolved from showcasing traditional photographic prints and books to embracing the full spectrum of image-based art — from historical works to cutting-edge digital creations. The fair’s continued commitment to innovation has made it a vital meeting place for photographers, curators, collectors, and institutions from all over the world.
After moving between venues during renovations, Paris Photo returned in 2024 to its historic home under the glass roof of the
Grand Palais in Paris. The expanded space now welcomes hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors, offering a truly immersive experience dedicated entirely to photography.

Paris Photo 2025: What Makes This Edition Special
The 28th edition of Paris Photo will be held from November 13 to 16, 2025, once again at the Grand Palais in Paris. This year’s fair will bring together more than
200 exhibitors from over 30 countries — including leading galleries, publishers, and institutions — making it one of the most global and ambitious editions to date.
Paris Photo 2025 will be structured around five signature sectors: Main, Editions/Publishing, Emergence (highlighting new voices), Digital, and Voices, a curated section that focuses on thematic and conceptual approaches to photography.
In the
Main Sector, this year’s selection will include 139 international galleries, with 34 solo shows, 3 large-scale “Prismes” projects, and 8 duo shows — demonstrating the fair’s balance between historical and contemporary practice.
The
Emergence Sector will present twenty solo projects by international artists, offering a dedicated platform for new and inventive creators to engage with the fair’s broader audience.
The
Digital Sector explores how photographic practice is evolving, highlighting the intersections of image-making with technology, AI, scanning processes, installation, and digital media — placing the fair at the cutting edge of what photography can be.
The
Book/Publishing Sector remains one of the most dynamic parts of the event, with more than 400 book signings, a packed talks program dedicated to the photobook, and a curated selection of international publishers and editors.
The
Voices Sector, curated this year by Devika Singh and Nadine Wietlisbach, offers a thematic and often multidisciplinary perspective, encouraging visitors to engage with photography beyond its traditional boundaries.
One of the standout features of this edition will be the major special exhibition
'The Last Photo' drawn from the Estrellita B. Brodsky Collection, which traces the evolution of photography from the 1940s to today. Visitors can expect to see both legendary figures and emerging talents represented across various genres — from documentary and fine art to conceptual and experimental photography.
Beyond the booths and curated exhibitions, Paris Photo 2025 will offer a rich program of talks, performances, book launches, masterclasses, and artist encounters, along with numerous off-site events across Paris. Museums, galleries, and independent spaces will join the celebration, turning the city into a hub for photographic discovery.
With its expanded floor plan, sector-specific programs, global representation, and immersive experiences, Paris Photo 2025 promises an unparalleled opportunity for anyone passionate about photography — from collectors and curators to artists and enthusiasts alike.

Why Paris Photo Matters
In a world saturated with images, Paris Photo continues to stand out as a global benchmark for photographic excellence. It serves as a dynamic platform that connects every facet of the photography ecosystem — from the makers to the market.
For photographers, the fair offers unmatched visibility and the opportunity to present their work to key players in the industry: editors, curators, collectors, festival directors, and publishers. For collectors and enthusiasts, it provides access to an extraordinary range of works — from early vintage prints to cutting-edge digital experiments — all under one roof.
Paris Photo has also become a space for critical dialogue, where historical perspectives meet contemporary practices. The inclusion of new sections like Digital and the expansion of the Emergence program underscore how the fair continues to evolve in response to technological, cultural, and aesthetic shifts in photography.
As photography continues to evolve, Paris Photo remains one of the most significant events in the international art calendar. It is not only a marketplace for collectors and galleries but also a celebration of photography’s power to document, question, and inspire.
The 2025 edition reaffirms the fair’s role as a meeting point for visionaries — from legendary masters to new voices shaping the future of the medium. Whether you are a professional photographer, a collector, or simply an admirer of visual art, Paris Photo 2025 offers a unique opportunity to experience the past, present, and future of photography in one extraordinary setting.
