The "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" (PX3) strives to promote the appreciation of photography, to discover emerging talent, and introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris. A selection of work from this competition is displayed in Paris and the winners are published in the PX3 Annual Book. Juried by leading editors, publishers, curators, gallery owners, consultants, creative directors, and art directors, PX3 brings the best of photography from across the globe to Paris.

Prizes:
PX3 Photographer of the Year (Professional)—$5,000 cash prize
Professional photographers compete for the top award–the title of “PX3 Photographer of the Year” and $5,000 cash prize. The Photographer of the Year is chosen from among the 1st prize winners in each of the 6 Pro Categories. The winner’s work is publicized internationally, receives the spotlight at all events, is exhibited in Paris, and published in the PX3 Annual Book.

PX3 Best New Talent (Non-Professionals and Students)—$2,000 cash prize
Non-professional photographers compete for the PX3 Best New Talent Award and $2,000 cash prize. The winner is chosen from the 1st prize winners in the 6 Non-Pro/Student categories. The work is publicized and exhibited in Paris, and published in the PX3 Annual Book.

All About Photo Presents ’The Lives of Others’ by Meg McKenzie Ryan
Meg chose to shoot in the poorer neighborhoods of Mexicali, Mexico, the capital city of the state of Baja California. With over a million residents, the possibilities were enormous. Residents hardships were visible. Meg lived a few miles north of the Mexicali border in the lower desert of California, USA. The summers there last roughly seven months, and daytime temperatures during several of those months are almost always over 115 degrees F. Nights get down to 90-plus degrees F. In addition, major earthquake faults run through the area, and roughly every ten years or so, a large earthquake hits causing some buildings to crack or even crumble.
