Open Call is in Partnership with Sony and Supporting World Center Kitchen


Lucie Foundation announces the fourth annual Lucie Photo Book Prize winners as well as the winners of Open Call: The Portrait Project. A portion of the proceeds from the Open Call will support World Central Kitchen, resulting in a donation of $20,973.27 to this worthy cause. Open Call is in partnership with Sony and in support of World Central Kitchen.

The Open Call: Portrait Project
The Open Call: Portrait Project features the work of 50 photographers/images that will be displayed in an online exhibition that is live here.

A variety of prizes have been awarded:

Grand Prize Winner: Behind Glass is a portrait series documenting 25 mothers and their children experiencing isolation in their homes during the global pandemic and a period of enforced social distancing to control the transmission of COVID-19 in Australia. I have built a practice investigating relationships between mother and child and In this series, I explore my long-held fascination with photographing through windows to frame a subject – a process I have never felt is more poignant than now. Behind glass, mother and child appear like living and breathing masterpieces – divine comedies of domesticity.

Lisa Sorgini, Behind Glass- Self portrait with my sons, is the GRAND PRIZE winner and will receive a featured interview on the Lucie Foundation website, be included in the online exhibition, receive a cash prize of $1000, a Sony Camera + Lens (Alpha 7R IV and Sony 50mm f1/8 lens), a portfolio review with Jacqueline Tobin, Editor-In-Chief of Rangefinder Magazine, 2 tickets to the 2021 Lucie Awards and a signed limited edition Lucie Honoree poster.

The 4 categories and the winners are:
- TOGETHER AS ONE (RELATIONSHIPS WITH FRIENDS / FAMILY, GROUPS OF PEOPLE OR SINGLES): Anthea den Hollander for Ageless
- CANDID (MOMENTS CAPTURED) Selene Magnolia: for ZOR
- B/W Alain Schroeder for Grandma Divers
- ALTERNATIVE/ABSTRACT: Robert Kalman for Ashleigh_2

Each category winner will be part of the Lucie Foundation online exhibition and receive a cash prize of $250 and one ticket to the 2021 Lucie Awards.

The jury includes photographer Lynn Goldsmith, mixed media artist Adrian Octavius Walker, Aldeide Delgado, founder and director, Women Photographers International Archive (WOPHA), Suzanne Donaldson, Sr. Director, Global Brand Creative Production, Nike, and Jacqueline Tobin, Editor-in-Chief, Rangefinder Magazine.
