I am an astronomy, landscape and night cityscape photographer and I propose fine art images. My
photographs celebrate the wonder that the night hours can offer, creating fascination in the viewer in
discovering how much light there is in the darkness. Through my work I explore darkness, always seeking
to discover more, going beyond what can be seen, pushing the boundaries of mystery and the dark.
The approach towards this world was born precisely because I began to question myself about the concept
of time linked to man. Everything we see that is astral is, in reality, what existed thousands, millions or
billions of years ago. The light of objects that reaches us today is a light that does not reflect the present.
The Universe is the most powerful time machine that can exist. We are seeing the past and our present will
be visible in the future.
Focusing on both the intimate and the grand, my goal is to evoke a sense of awe and reflection in viewers.
My photographs seek to provide an escape, helping people recapture their dreamscapes and providing a
unique and powerful perspective on the everyday. I explore our relationship with the universe, mysterious
forces and even the fear of darkness itself: Nyctophobia.
Carlotta Roda
Carlotta Roda was born in 1999 in Erba, in the province of Como. After graduating from linguistic high
school, she decided to study at the IED in Milan and graduated in photography.
With the camera she feels the need to search for meanings beyond evidence and she uses photography to
evoke imaginary realities, as an infinite universe of research. Her intent is to put man before himself to ask
questions about his own existence. The creation of astronomical shots and nocturnal urban scenarios
allows this reflection: the viewer sees on the one hand the greatness that the Universe shows us and on
the other notices the smallness of our daily life in the buildings, our home. A philosopher who influenced
her work is certainly Blaise Pascal, who reflected on the infinitely large and infinitely small of the
individual. The individual rediscovers himself as dividual, he is amazed in front of the big and in front of
the small because he is nothing in front of the infinite and he is an all in comparison to nothing.
She has participated in several photographic competitions and thanks to these she has had the
opportunity to hold collective exhibitions. In 2023 she won the “Empire State Building Photo Contest
2023” prize, she won four competitions at the “Glasgow Gallery of Photography” gallery and in the same
year she received a certificate of artistic merit from the “Luxembourg Art Prize” competition. Her
photographs have been exhibited both nationally, such as Milan and Jesi, and internationally, such as
Glasgow, Minneapolis and New York.
