Behind the Shot: ኮካ ኮላ እመቤት - Coca Cola Lady
This series is an exploration of the streets of Ethiopia, particularly in the cities of Harar and Dire Dawa. Through these photographs, I aim to convey the beauty I experienced during my first visit to the country. I was deeply moved by the atmosphere of these places and by the people - especially the women, always seen in beautiful traditional dresses, many times in very colorful hijabs - whose presence left a lasting impression on me.
The series reflects a personal journey of encountering and engaging with a new and unfamiliar culture - something I hope to share with the viewers. Each photograph is connected by the presence of at least one woman in a traditional attire, creating a quiet thread that runs through the work.
What began as a finite project has grown into something more open-ended. I now see it as the beginning of an evolving body of work - one I plan to continue as soon as I return to Africa, which will be very soon. As my surroundings and perspective shift, so does the work, making this an ongoing series that continues to grow in both meaning and form.
