Daytona State College’s Photography Program offers a comprehensive and immersive pathway for students pursuing careers in visual communication. The Associate of Science in Photographic Technology degree blends hands-on technical training with theoretical study, equipping students to succeed in commercial, editorial, advertising, fine arts, and emerging photography fields. From digital imaging to videography, the curriculum emphasizes both creative expression and practical skill, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the contemporary visual media landscape.

Students engage in courses covering the history and aesthetics of photography, alongside technical instruction in lighting, studio practices, and post-production techniques. The program also introduces students to advanced photographic processes, including digital workflows, color management, and specialized imaging technologies. This combination of foundational knowledge and applied practice enables students to develop a professional eye and a confident approach to image-making, while fostering a deeper understanding of the medium’s role in society and culture.

Daytona State College emphasizes experiential learning through projects that simulate real-world scenarios, encouraging students to apply their skills in professional contexts.
