The Middlebury College Museum of Art serves as a vibrant cultural and educational hub within the Middlebury College campus, enriching both academic and public life through a diverse and thoughtfully curated collection. With holdings that span centuries and continents, the museum offers a unique lens into the global human experience through the visual arts.

Its permanent collection features a compelling array of objects—from ancient artifacts to contemporary works—highlighting exceptional examples of Asian art, photography, 19th-century American and European sculpture, and modern prints. Rotating exhibitions drawn from both the museum’s collection and special loans ensure a continually fresh and engaging experience for visitors.

As a vital learning space, the museum supports interdisciplinary teaching and research, positioning itself as the college’s largest classroom. Students engage directly with original artworks, allowing for hands-on learning and a deeper connection to global histories and ideas. In addition to its indoor galleries, the museum stewards Middlebury College’s collection of public sculpture, featuring more than two dozen works placed throughout the campus landscape.
