Frieze New York 2026 returns to The Shed from May 13 to 17, marking the fair’s 15th edition and its sixth consecutive year in the striking cultural center at Hudson Yards. Since its launch in 2012, Frieze New York has become a defining moment in the city’s spring art season, drawing together leading international galleries, curators, artists, and collectors for a concentrated week of exchange and discovery. Under the direction of Christine Messineo, the 2026 edition continues to sharpen its focus on ambitious presentations that reflect the rigor and diversity of contemporary practice.

Approximately 70 galleries will participate, presenting solo, dual, and thematic exhibitions that range from historical rediscoveries to newly commissioned works. Photography holds a significant place within this landscape, appearing in conceptually driven installations, performance-based projects, and carefully constructed booth presentations that underscore the medium’s evolving role in contemporary discourse. The Galleries section emphasizes strong curatorial proposals, while the Focus section—once again advised by Lumi Tan—spotlights young galleries founded in or after 2014, offering a platform for emerging programs and artists to gain international visibility.

Frieze New York 2026 also reflects the fair’s expanding global dialogue, with a notable presence of galleries from Central and South America.
