Art Basel Hong Kong 2026
Mar 27, 2026 – Mar 29, 2026

1 Harbour Road Wan Chai Hong Kong, China
Hong Kong, China

Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 arrives with a renewed sense of purpose, gathering 240 galleries from 41 countries and territories to celebrate the depth and reach of contemporary art across the Asia-Pacific region. With more than half of the participating galleries operating within the region—and nearly thirty rooted in Hong Kong—the fair continues to honor the city’s longstanding position as a cultural crossroads. This edition welcomes an impressive range of first-time exhibitors, marking a vibrant expansion of artistic perspectives from across Europe, Asia, and the United States.

A central innovation for 2026 is Echoes, a new sector devoted to works created within the last five years. Presented through ten curated booths, Echoes offers a window into the most current artistic approaches, with each presentation featuring up to three artists. This focused model highlights emerging narratives and practices, revealing how contemporary creators interpret the world’s shifting landscapes. Early highlights include embroidered cartographies, sculptural experiments with books, and immersive spatial installations that challenge conventional forms.

The Encounters sector, dedicated to expansive installations and performances, enters a new era under a collective curatorial team of four Asia-based experts led by Mami Kataoka. Their shared approach brings together perspectives shaped by diverse cities and traditions, enriching the fair with bold and regionally grounded insights. Their collaboration demonstrates how creative leadership can strengthen connections across borders while preserving each curator’s distinct voice.

Beyond the exhibition halls, the Public Program invites visitors into a city-wide celebration of art. Film screenings, institutional partnerships, and open conversations draw audiences into a broader cultural dialogue. This year, the Film Program gains a new dimension under the guidance of media artist Ellen Pau, whose vision has influenced Hong Kong’s media arts ecosystem for decades. The Conversations series will also feature a day of discussions shaped by Venus Lau, offering a dynamic platform for exchange and reflection.

Public art remains a vital part of the fair’s identity. The M+ Facade will once again host a monumental commission, this time by Shahzia Sikander, whose animated work traces the intertwined histories of trade, power, and global exchange. Through gestures like this, Art Basel Hong Kong affirms its dedication to connecting communities, encouraging discovery, and supporting a thriving artistic network that extends far beyond the fair’s walls.
