Art Basel Qatar 2026
Feb 5, 2026 – Feb 7, 2026

M7 & Doha Design District
Msheireb Downtown Doha, Abdullah Bin Thani St
Doha, Qatar

Art Basel Qatar will debut in Doha from February 5 to 7, 2026, marking a significant milestone as the fifth global edition of the prestigious fair. Organized in partnership with Qatar Sports Investments and QC+, this inaugural event will bring together 87 galleries from 31 countries, presenting 84 artist showcases. Sixteen of these galleries will participate for the first time, reflecting the fair’s mission to amplify diverse artistic voices and global perspectives.

Curated by Egyptian-born artist Wael Shawky, Art Basel Qatar departs from traditional booth formats to embrace an open exhibition model centered around the theme of “Becoming.” This concept explores the ongoing transformation of humanity and the cultural systems that define identity and creativity. The exhibition will unfold across M7, the Doha Design District, and key public spaces in Msheireb Downtown Doha, inviting visitors into a dialogue between art, storytelling, and collective experience.

More than half of the artists represented in this first edition originate from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, affirming Doha’s growing role as a crossroads for cultural exchange. Notable names include Etel Adnan, Ali Banisadr, Simone Fattal, Ali Cherri, Meriem Bennani, and Iman Issa. Regional galleries such as Hafez Gallery from Saudi Arabia, Gallery Misr from Cairo, and Le Violon Bleu from Tunis will participate alongside major international players like Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, Pace Gallery, White Cube, and David Zwirner.

Art Basel Qatar aims to strengthen the region’s artistic landscape while maintaining its global reach. With the support of Visit Qatar as the fair’s lead partner, the event underscores the country’s commitment to the arts as both cultural heritage and catalyst for future exchange. Shawky’s vision ensures that this first edition will not only present art but embody a living conversation about what it means to become, to evolve, and to create meaning in a rapidly changing world.
