Zero Art Fair Returns for Its Second Edition at The FLAG Art Foundation

Zero Art Fair is back for its second edition, this time hosted at The FLAG Art Foundation in New York. Following its successful debut in Elizaville in 2024, the fair continues its mission to rethink how art is accessed, collected, and valued—offering an alternative to the traditional, market-driven art world.

Founded by artists Jennifer Dalton and William Powhida, Zero Art Fair confronts the idea of manufactured scarcity in the art market. Rather than selling work, the fair offers a “store-to-own” model: artworks are given freely through a contract that grants ownership after five years. Artists retain key rights during that period, and if the work is eventually sold, they receive 50% of the sale price and a 10% royalty on all future resales.

This year's edition expands on ideas of equity and access, prioritizing those who wouldn’t normally be able to afford art. Visitors can attend July 8–10 without registration; timed free tickets are required for July 11–12. Attendees will be asked to self-identify economically, with one artwork available per household.

“This is about growing the community of people who live with art—not just those who can afford it,” say the founders. “It’s one thing to see work in a gallery. It’s another to live with it every day.”

Over 90 artists are participating, including Bo Bartlett, Amy Cheng, Gina Magid, Michael Mandiberg, Diana Shpungin, Adam Simon, Chris Verene, and many more. The selection is overseen by a curatorial committee that includes Folasade Ologundudu, Sara Reisman, Jonathan Rider, Seph Rodney, and the co-founders themselves.
