Bay Area Photography Open Exhibition – 2026 at The Image Flow gathers work by photographic artists from across the extended Bay Area in a juried, open-theme presentation. On view from September 21 through January 8, 2027, the exhibition marks the gallery’s second annual call for entry and brings together a wide range of approaches, from digital images to alternative processes and hybrid practices.

The show is juried by Ann Jastrab, executive director of the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel; Nelson Chan, associate professor of photography; and Nathan Lomas, a Bay Area photographer whose work often explores place and memory. Their selection reflects the region’s deep photographic traditions—mastery of craft, mentorship and sustained engagement with the medium—while also acknowledging newer directions in image-making.

Included artists include Wilton Wong, Allan Barnes, Linda Barsotti, Lisa Brussell, Ify Obi, Chris Gibbons, Drayson Jaffee, Christopher R. Partin, Carlos Tamayo, Nicole Ravicchio, Justin Wang, Austin Halpern, Mima Cataldo, Brandin Barón, QT Luong, Rusty Weston, Sangwoo Han, Constance Button, Deborah Satten, Jim Van Slyke, Nancy Farese, Suz Lipman, Steve Besselman, Morayah Horovitz, Susan West, Sean Crawford, Jane Waterbury, Elisabeth Fall, Allyson Ely and Samuel Wong. The group represents a broad spectrum of subjects and methods, united by a commitment to photography as a primary means of expression.

Jastrab’s background includes leadership roles at RayKo Photo Center and Scott Nichols Gallery in San Francisco, as well as more than a decade of teaching at Maine Media Workshops. At the Center for Photographic Art, she has expanded grant and scholarship programs and launched PhotoCarmel, a festival celebrating photography on California’s central coast. Chan and Lomas bring additional perspectives as educators and practitioners rooted in the Bay Area’s contemporary photographic community.

The Image Flow, located in San Anselmo, has long supported local and regional photographers through exhibitions and programs. Bay Area Photography Open 2026 continues that mission by offering a platform for artists working in diverse styles and disciplines, and by affirming the ongoing vitality of photographic practice in the region.
