ar- ti- facts at Perspective Gallery pairs two bodies of work that turn attention toward the traces light and memory leave behind. On view from July 30 through August 30, 2026, the exhibition brings together Jeffrie Chirchirillo and Jane Feely, whose photographs approach the everyday as a record of change rather than a fixed scene.

Chirchirillo’s images begin in a greenhouse, where the roof functions like a vast light box and fallen leaves become filters for color. Hackberry leaves and grapevine leaves collect on the surface, and as the seasons shift, so does the light they pass through. Early in the cycle, the leaves remain vivid; later they turn bread-brown, copper, rust and yellow before fading into a more muted register. Rain and snow intensify the effect, turning each frame into something close to a temporary stained-glass window. The work rests on observation, but its concern is transformation, especially the slow visual drift of a landscape in motion.

Feely’s photographs move in a different direction, toward the weight of continuity. Made in Tenby, a small Welsh fishing town tied to her family history, the pictures focus on surfaces, details and fragments that carry the residue of generations. Her approach treats the town not as backdrop but as a living archive, where ordinary textures become evidence of lineage and belonging. The images suggest that memory does not always arrive through grand gestures; sometimes it lingers in a wall, a street corner or a worn object left in place.

Seen together, the two artists offer complementary forms of witnessing. Chirchirillo looks upward through changing light, while Feely looks outward and inward at once, mapping inheritance through the close study of place. Both practices give modest subjects a durable presence, and both make clear that photography can register time without reducing it to nostalgia.

At Perspective Gallery, ar- ti- facts presents photographs as keepsakes of motion: seasonal, historical and personal, each one shaped by what remains after the moment has passed.
