Jackson Fine Art’s Private Collections Salon and Sale returns for its 12th edition on July 25 and runs through October 10, 2026, bringing more than 100 photographs to its Buckhead gallery in Atlanta, with the selection also presented online. The annual event has become a fixture for collectors looking beyond the auction circuit, pairing market knowledge with a carefully edited group of works from private hands.
The sale spans a wide field of photography, moving from established names to more recent figures whose work already carries strong demand. Among the classic photographers represented are Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon, Bill Brandt, Elliott Erwitt, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Nicholas Nixon, Gordon Parks, Sebastião Salgado and Weegee. Contemporary work includes pieces by Loretta Lux, Vera Lutter, Sally Mann, Martin Parr and Alec Soth, reflecting the range that has made the salon a closely watched date on the calendar for serious buyers.
This year’s presentation places particular emphasis on women photographers, with a focused selection drawn from the collection of a New York collector whose eye shaped a notable group of twentieth-century work. The names on view include Ruth Bernhard, Ilse Bing, Florence Henri, Graciela Iturbide, Lisette Model and Doris Ulmann. That section gives the exhibition a more pointed historical frame, tracing a lineage that has often been undervalued in the market and in museum display.
Jackson Fine Art has built its reputation over more than three decades in the fine art photography market, and curator Malia Schramm, who has been with the gallery since 1999, has helped shape the salon’s identity. The format offers a different kind of encounter with photography: part sale, part survey, part snapshot of collecting habits. In a market that often moves quickly, the exhibition presents images with a longer afterlife in view.
