We are now accepting proposals for the 2026 Aftermath Project post-conflict grant.

This grant, which we have offered since 2007, is at the core of our mission. As always, we will award one $25,000 grant and name four finalists.

As I reflect on the last few Aftermath Project grant recipients' projects, it occurs to me that several address the fallout of conflicts, in Ukraine and in Gaza, that are still ongoing. It is clear that the need to recognize and understand the still-unspooling aftermaths of conflict — these and others — is as great as ever.

We should not look away, and this grant exists to help ensure that we do not, by supporting photographers working on projects that address what is required after a conflict “to rebuild lives and homes, to restore civil societies, to address the lingering wounds of war while struggling to create new avenues for peace.”

I’d like to take a moment to thank the members of The Aftermath Project board, including our newest additions, Laura Roumanos, of Photoville, and Peter DiCampo, of ProPublica and the Everyday Projects, for their continued support and determination to offer the grant again this year.

The application for the 2026 traditional post-conflict grant is now available on our website. The application deadline is Tuesday, December 1, 2026, and we plan to announce the grant winner and finalists by the end of that month.
