Praxis Gallery: The Streets

This contest is now closed for submissions
Host: Praxis Photo Arts Center
Territory: Worldwide
Theme(s): The Streets
Eligibility: Open to all
Entry Fees: $35.00
Prize(s): Exhibition

The street photographer moves through public life as both observer and participant—attentive to gesture, chance, humor, tension, and the fleeting relationships between people and place. An ordinary moment becomes a record of how we live; the familiar becomes strange, revealing the mystery and energy of everyday life.

Praxis Gallery seeks photographic art that explores the streets from all angles, including people, public spaces, urban structures, and documentary subject matter. We welcome all photographic styles and interpretations, in black and white or color, traditional or experimental. Juror: Jonathan Pavlica

All About Photo Presents 'When I Arrived' by Dave Jordano

Posted on October 01, 2026

In early 1972, at just twenty-four years old, Dave Jordano was a photography student at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Armed with a 35mm camera and the curiosity of someone still discovering what photography might mean to him, he began photographing in and around the city. For roughly a year, he moved through Detroit and its surrounding neighborhoods, making pictures as assignments for school but also simply because he was looking. Most of those photographs were never printed. Inst

Announcing the Winners of AAP Magazine 60: Nature Photography Awards

Posted on September 25, 2026

There is something wonderfully humbling about photographing nature. We can spend hours waiting for the right light, following a change in the landscape, watching an animal, or simply noticing something small that we might otherwise have walked past. And sometimes, almost by chance, we are given a moment we could never have planned. This is what I love about nature photography: it asks us to pay attention. For AAP Magazine #60: Nature, we received photographs that approach the natural world i
