The photographs focus on the material evidence of buildings that have lost their original function but remain connected to the c

Michael Yamashita: The Nature of Japan

Nov 2026 — Abrams Books

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Michael Yamashita: The Nature of Japan

Michael Yamashita: The Nature of Japan presents a photographic survey of Japan focused on the relationship between landscape, tradition, spirituality, and daily life. For Yamashita, Japan is also connected to his family background and to years of photographic work in different parts of the world. His familiarity with the country allows him to move beyond well-known landmarks and concentrate on local environments, seasonal changes, and small details that are often overlooked. The photographs c

Nov 2026 — Aperture

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Josef Koudelka: Invasion Prague 68

Josef Koudelka: Invasion Prague 68 brings together one of the most important photographic records of the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. In August 1968, Warsaw Pact forces entered Prague to end the reform movement known as the Prague Spring. Koudelka, then known primarily for his theatre photography and with limited experience in conventional photojournalism, photographed the events as they unfolded around him. His images show crowds confronting soldiers, civilians surrounding armored

Nov 2026 — Taschen

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Peter Lindbergh: Shadows on the Wall (45th Edition)

Peter Lindbergh: Shadows on the Wall focuses on the side of fashion photography that rarely dominates magazine covers: age, experience, and character etched into the faces of its subjects. Drawn from more than 37,000 previously unreleased images from Lindbergh’s 2017 Pirelli calendar shoot, the project brings together an exceptional cast including Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Helen Mirren, Charlotte Rampling, Lupita Nyong’o, Penélope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Uma Thurman, and others. Photographer Susan Meiselas focuses on the handmade signs carried by demonstrators in New York City and Washington, D.C. The signs use humour, anger, satire, and direct political language to express the concerns of people taking part in public demonstrations. The book treats these signs as evidence of politi

Raymond Meeks: A Commonplace Book

Oct 2026 — Steidl

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Raymond Meeks: A Commonplace Book

A Commonplace Book brings together 59 photographs by Raymond Meeks, selected and arranged by fellow photographer John Gossage. Published by Steidl with The Agency, Hudson Valley, the book presents Meeks’s subdued black-and-white images of the American landscape without a chronological sequence or continuous narrative. The selection instead allows each photograph to stand on its own, while the differences in style and subject reveal a consistent photographic sensibility. Meeks, born in 1963 an

Platon: Paros

Platon, born in 1968, has family roots on Paros and has visited the island regularly for about 40 years. The book brings together images made from the 1980s to the early 21st century, documenting a community that retained traditional practices long after much of the world had adopted faster-paced, technology-driven lifestyles. The photographs show daily life in villag

Mike Mandel: Myself

Oct 2026 — Eighteen Publications

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Mike Mandel: Myself

Mike Mandel: Myself is a revised edition of Mandel’s first photobook, originally self-published in 1972. The project, titled Myself: Timed Exposures, began in 1971, when Mandel set out to make “self-portraits” by placing himself in public situations with strangers. He was influenced by Lee Friedlander’s self-portraits, the early work of Jacques Henri Lartigue, and the role of chance in Marcel Duchamp’s practice. The book documents a method that combined conceptual planning with unpredictable res

Helen Levitt: New York Archive / Black & White brings together previously unpublished photographs from Helen Levitt’s archive alongside a selection of her best-known images. Published with Zander Galerie, Cologne, the volume focuses on her black-and-white street work, which helped define a distinct approach to photographing everyday life in New York. The images show people socialising, sunbathing, and using the piers as a space for sexual encounters, including sex w

Oct 2026 — Skira

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Pablo Arroyo: Plates

Pablo Arroyo: Plates, published by Skira, marks a new stage in the career of a photographer long associated with international fashion imagery. After working on campaigns and catalogues for brands including Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Trussardi, and Valentino, Arroyo turns away from the demands of commercial image-making and focuses on photographs with a more reduced approach. The book is the first monograph dedicated to this part of his work. The images concentrate on objects and nudes, presen

Bruce Gilden: A Closer Look

Oct 2026 — Skira

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Bruce Gilden: A Closer Look

Bruce Gilden: A Closer Look revisits the work of one of street photography’s most recognisable figures. A member of Magnum Photos, Gilden is known for photographing people at very close range, often using direct flash to emphasise facial features, clothing, and skin. His portraits are immediate and confrontational, bringing the viewer into close contact with people encountered on city streets. The book focuses largely on his continuing Faces series, while also presenting a wider view of his phot

Alex Webb: Walking Blues

Alex Webb: Walking Blues brings together more than a decade of photographs made across the United States. The series covers approximately forty cities between 2010 and 2025, including busy urban centers and quieter residential areas. His images show cities as places where separate activities and communities occupy the same space, often for only a mom

Susan kae Grant: Night Journey

Oct 2026 — MW Editions

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Susan kae Grant: Night Journey

Susan kae Grant: Night Journey presents nearly ninety black-and-white photographs based on the artist’s long-term study of dreams. For more than two decades, Grant has used photography to reconstruct scenes drawn from sleep rather than to record ordinary events. Her images include figures, children, animals, objects, and unfamiliar forms arranged in settings that combine recognizable details with deliberately unclear situations. The project began in the early 1990s through Grant’s collaborati

Stephanie Duprie Routh: The Atlas of Invisible Things

Oct 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Stephanie Duprie Routh: The Atlas of Invisible Things

Stephanie Duprie Routh: The Atlas of Invisible Things unfolds as a contemplative journey through Morocco, where landscape and identity intertwine in subtle, unexpected ways. Blending photography and prose, Stephanie Duprie Routh constructs a work that feels less like a travelogue and more like an interior map. Light drifts across tiled courtyards, desert horizons, and quiet domestic spaces, revealing how place can shape the contours of self. Each image carries a hushed intensity, as though the a

Stephen Shore: The Mental Image

Sep 2026 — MACK

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Stephen Shore: The Mental Image

Stephen Shore: The Mental Image examines how photographs are formed before they are taken. In this latest book, Stephen Shore considers the role of imagination, attention, memory, and physical experience in the way photographers understand the world. Rather than focusing only on cameras or photographic technique, he looks at the mental processes that influence how an image is anticipated, constructed, and interpreted. The book follows The Nature of Photographs, Shore’s widely used study of ph

Pfeiffer’s work is defined by an informal

Lauren Shaw: Traces of Impermanence

Sep 2026 — MW Editions

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Lauren Shaw: Traces of Impermanence

Traces of Impermanence is a photographic project by Lauren Shaw about aging, memory, and the physical changes that affect both people and the natural world. Its starting point is personal. As a child in the American South, Shaw watched her mother carefully apply hairspray and silver glitter before going out, maintaining a precise appearance even while raising children and spending time at Daytona Beach. Her mother’s clothes, shoes, and accessories were also arranged with care, reflecting an effo

Stu McKenzie: Missing Katrice

Sep 2026 — Dewi Lewis Publishing

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Stu McKenzie: Missing Katrice

In Missing Katrice, photographer Stu McKenzie revisits one of the most haunting unsolved disappearances in modern British history. On November 28, 1981, two-year-old Katrice Lee vanished from the NAAFI supermarket at Schloss Neuhaus, West Germany, while shopping with her mother and aunt. She was never seen again. What began as a family outing became a decades-long search for answers. The investigation quickly focused on the possibility that Katrice had drowned in the nearby River Lippe. Y

Over six years, Konttinen followed the lives of the dancers, documenting their ambitions, relationships, and changing circumstances as they moved beyond the dancing school. The photographs present dancing as both a source of aspiration and a means of sustaining dreams amid difficult personal and social realities. The book

Jerry Hsu: How About Never

Sep 2026 — MACK

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Jerry Hsu: How About Never

Jerry Hsu: How About Never brings together photographs made in Los Angeles from 2011 onward. The book presents the city as an active presence rather than a neutral backdrop. Hsu’s images record contradictions that define everyday life in the area, placing signs of hope next to evidence of neglect and injury. The sequence moves between quiet moments and scenes of damage, creating an atmosphere that feels both familiar and unsettled. The photographs include disfigured fences, discarded toilets,

The book includes images from New York, Paris, Tokyo, Moscow, Antwerp, Mumbai, and Zanzibar, as well as work from Belgium and France. Rather than following a conventional travel route, the selection is organised around Gruyaert’s visual approach. His photographs emphasise colour, light, and urban geometry, using these elements to structure the frame as much as the buildings and streets themsel

Walker Evans

Sep 2026 — Thames & Hudson

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Walker Evans

Walker Evans presents a major reassessment of one of the most enduring figures in modern photography, showing him as both a photographer of his time and someone who worked ahead of it. Evans (1903–1975) produced images that remain inseparable from the history of photography and the history of the United States. His subjects are quintessentially American—small-town life, typical buildings, commercial signs, anonymous citizens—but he approached them with the curiosity of an outsider, using an exac

Jo Ann Chaus: Unspoken

Sep 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Jo Ann Chaus: Unspoken

Over the course of ten years, Unspoken became far more than a photographic series for Jo Ann Chaus—it evolved into a deeply personal exploration of identity, memory, and transformation. What began as intimate conversations between the artist and her camera gradually unfolded into a visual narrative examining the roles women inherit, perform, and ultimately challenge. Through self-portraiture, Chaus inhabits a cast of familiar female archetypes, exposing the invisible expectations that continue t

Lara Porzak: The Chemistry of Memory

Sep 2026 — Damiani

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Lara Porzak: The Chemistry of Memory

Lara Porzak: The Chemistry of Memory gathers three decades of work into a richly textured monograph that reflects on photography as an act of preservation and contemplation. Working exclusively with analog processes, Lara Porzak approaches the photographic image not simply as a representation of the world, but as a physical object shaped by time, light, and material transformation. Her photographs carry the visible traces of their making, revealing an attachment to traditional techniques that em

Jean-Pierre Laffont: Rebels with a Cause

Sep 2026 — Damiani

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Jean-Pierre Laffont: Rebels with a Cause

Jean-Pierre Laffont: Rebels with a Cause revisits a turbulent and transformative chapter in American history through the eyes of a photographer who arrived in the United States as both participant and observer. Born in France and settling in America during the 1960s, Jean-Pierre Laffont approached the country with the curiosity of an outsider and the sensitivity of someone immersed in its contradictions. Armed with a camera, he documented a generation determined to challenge authority, social co

Pamela Thomas-Graham: Stone by Morning

Sep 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Pamela Thomas-Graham: Stone by Morning

Pamela Thomas-Graham: Stone by Morning is a quiet invocation of Iceland’s elemental power, where geology and myth seem inseparable. In this luminous volume, Pamela Thomas-Graham turns her lens toward a land shaped by fire and ice, tracing how its stark terrain has nourished centuries of storytelling. Basalt cliffs rise like ancient fortresses, glaciers glow beneath low northern light, and distant horizons dissolve into mist. The photographs suggest that the landscape itself is sentient, holding

Newsha Tavakolian: And They Laughed at Me

Sep 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Newsha Tavakolian: And They Laughed at Me

Newsha Tavakolian: And They Laughed at Me is a bold and disarming return to the fragile beginnings of a photographer who would later gain international recognition. Instead of assembling a volume of celebrated images, Newsha Tavakolian turns to what she once dismissed as her “eyesores”—photographs made in her teenage years when she began working as a photojournalist in Tehran. Taken at sixteen, in the charged atmosphere of a country shaped by political tension and social constraint, these early

Irina Rozovsky: Mountain Black Heart

Aug 2026 — Mack Books

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Irina Rozovsky: Mountain Black Heart

Irina Rozovsky: Mountain Black Heart documents a multi-year journey through the Balkans that began in the summer of 2014. Rozovsky started the project after waking to the sound of a brass band festival in a Serbian mountain village. She went on to photograph in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania. The book brings together images made across these countries without emphasising national borders, focusing instead on shared landscapes

Wolfgang Zurborn: Crowds

Aug 2026 — Kehrer

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Wolfgang Zurborn: Crowds

Wolfgang Zurborn: Crowds brings together photographic archives from the 1980s and 1990s for the first time. During the coronavirus lockdowns, Zurborn scanned hundreds of analogue colour negatives and developed the book and exhibition project Crowds. The period of reduced public activity allowed him to review this material with distance. The resulting images form a layered panorama of a society in transition, focused on the individual within social structures, collective dynamics, and media influ

Ben Marcin: The Holdouts

Aug 2026 — GOST Books

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Ben Marcin: The Holdouts

Ben Marcin: The Holdouts centers on places that persist at the edges of visibility—houses and encampments that remain, resist, or quietly fade in and around Baltimore and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The debut photobook gathers three distinct bodies of work: solitary row houses that somehow escaped demolition in the inner city; abandoned farmhouses where the last generations have died or moved away; and temporary homeless camps that rarely last more than a year before being cleared or dispersed.

Martin Schoeller: Drag Queens

Aug 2026 — Steidl

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Martin Schoeller: Drag Queens

.i>Martin Schoeller: Drag Queens presents close-up portraits of the most famous drag performers in America, from Brooke Lynn Hytes to Aquaria, using Schoeller’s signature tight framing to strip away spectacle and reveal the inner life of each subject. Over the last two decades, drag has moved from niche corners into the center of popular culture, aided by its photogenic appeal, but good portraits of drag queens must go beyond glitz and glamor to show the essence, diversity, and power of the arti

Tim Page: Nam Contact

Aug 2026 — Steidl

Working primarily in Kenya and Uganda during the 1960s and 1970s, Beard documents the devastating consequences of human inte

Andrea Modica: Italian Story

Jul 2026 — L'Artière

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Andrea Modica: Italian Story

Andrea Modica: Italian Story brings together a forty-year photographic journey through Italy, unfolding as a personal meditation on time, place, and the act of seeing. The work is made entirely with an 8×10 view camera, a choice that shapes the entire approach: the images are deliberate, slow, and grounded in presence, requiring the photographer to return to the same places over decades. This method produces photographs that carry the weight of duration and the sense of a relationship that deepe

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Nigel Grierson: Theatre of Space Vol 1

Nigel Grierson: Theatre of Space Vol 1 collects street photographs taken in London during the early 1980s while Grierson studied at the Royal College of Art. The book pairs these images with an essay by Gerry Badger, a long-time writer on photography, and presents Grierson’s contribution to documentary practice at a moment when British street photography favored natural light and restraint. Grierson’s work stands out for its use of flash in daylight, a technique that read as unconventional at th

Known for transforming the photobook into an object that can be handled, rearranged, and experienced like a portable exhibition, Singh approaches the archive not simply as a repository of information, but as a poetic structure shaped by absence, repetition, and time. Moving from Minnesota to the Texas Panhandle, Gohlke focused on one recurring form: the grain elevator. These towering industrial buildings, stark and monumental against open skies, become the visual and symbolic
