In 1978, the series Café Lehmitz revealed the name of a young Swedish documentarist, Anders Petersen. A tender chronicle of the daily life in a Hamburg bar frequented by lost souls, prostitutes, sailors, and other marginalized individuals, this collection lays the foundation for a poignant and unadorned oeuvre. It is in these enclosed spaces, on the fringes of society, that Anders Petersen finds a form of freedom among prisoners and residents of nursing homes or psychiatric hospitals, observing the world as an exegete, an actor, a witness, a disruptor.
