Photographer Jimmy Nelson has traveled the world with his camera, visiting some of its most remote and ancient cultures: the resulting images will uplift us individually, unite us spiritually and help motivate us to save our humanity.

The new global language is not Chinese, English or Spanish. Jimmy Nelson believes it is the visual language of photography. His travels to visit native peoples within small remote communities have become addictive. The bright, colorful, ecstatic feeling that comes through in the resulting photographs is in sharp contrast to a world that sometimes feels emotionally beige. They demonstrate the unique beauty of all the varieties of human life for the viewers and the subjects alike. It is the story he wants to tell and share with the world.

The parallels between the biodiversity of the planet and its cultural diversity are very clear. Our ethnodiversity, our ‘ethnosphere’, must also be protected. It is the sum total and manifestation of all the thoughts, dreams, myths, ideas, inspirations and intuitions produced by the human imagination since the dawn of consciousness. It is all that we have created through our endeavors as a wildly inquisitive and astonishingly adaptive species. In short, it is humanity’s greatest legacy.

We all come from the same source and together we are going through an amazing period of cultural evolution. Peoples with unique cultural identities need to be truly and effectively respected, cherished and supported, for them and for all of us If we are to do so we will all need some of the humility, vulnerability, kindness, generosity and good humor that comes through in these arresting images.

The project, titled Myself: Timed Exposures, began in 1971, when Mandel set out to make “self-portraits” by placing himself in public situations with strangers. He was influenced by Lee Friedlander’s self-portraits, the early work of Jacques Henri Lartigue, and the role of chance in Marcel Duchamp’s practice. The book documents a method that combined conceptual planning with unpredictable res

The project began in the early 1990s through Grant’s collaborati

Oct 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Stephanie Duprie Routh: The Atlas of Invisible Things

Stephanie Duprie Routh: The Atlas of Invisible Things unfolds as a contemplative journey through Morocco, where landscape and identity intertwine in subtle, unexpected ways. Blending photography and prose, Stephanie Duprie Routh constructs a work that feels less like a travelogue and more like an interior map. Light drifts across tiled courtyards, desert horizons, and quiet domestic spaces, revealing how place can shape the contours of self. Each image carries a hushed intensity, as though the a

The book follows The Nature of Photographs, Shore’s widely used study of ph

Traces of Impermanence is a photographic project by Lauren Shaw about aging, memory, and the physical changes that affect both people and the natural world. Its starting point is personal. As a child in the American South, Shaw watched her mother carefully apply hairspray and silver glitter before going out, maintaining a precise appearance even while raising children and spending time at Daytona Beach. Her mother’s clothes, shoes, and accessories were also arranged with care, reflecting an effo

What began as a family outing became a decades-long search for answers. The investigation quickly focused on the possibility that Katrice had drowned in the nearby River Lippe. Y

Jerry Hsu: How About Never

Sep 2026 — MACK

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Jerry Hsu: How About Never

Jerry Hsu: How About Never brings together photographs made in Los Angeles from 2011 onward. The book presents the city as an active presence rather than a neutral backdrop. Hsu’s images record contradictions that define everyday life in the area, placing signs of hope next to evidence of neglect and injury. The sequence moves between quiet moments and scenes of damage, creating an atmosphere that feels both familiar and unsettled. The photographs include disfigured fences, discarded toilets,

Walker Evans

Sep 2026 — Thames & Hudson

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Walker Evans

Walker Evans presents a major reassessment of one of the most enduring figures in modern photography, showing him as both a photographer of his time and someone who worked ahead of it. Evans (1903–1975) produced images that remain inseparable from the history of photography and the history of the United States. His subjects are quintessentially American—small-town life, typical buildings, commercial signs, anonymous citizens—but he approached them with the curiosity of an outsider, using an exac

Jo Ann Chaus: Unspoken

Sep 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Jo Ann Chaus: Unspoken

Over the course of ten years, Unspoken became far more than a photographic series for Jo Ann Chaus—it evolved into a deeply personal exploration of identity, memory, and transformation. What began as intimate conversations between the artist and her camera gradually unfolded into a visual narrative examining the roles women inherit, perform, and ultimately challenge. Through self-portraiture, Chaus inhabits a cast of familiar female archetypes, exposing the invisible expectations that continue t

Lara Porzak: The Chemistry of Memory

Sep 2026 — Damiani

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Lara Porzak: The Chemistry of Memory

Lara Porzak: The Chemistry of Memory gathers three decades of work into a richly textured monograph that reflects on photography as an act of preservation and contemplation. Working exclusively with analog processes, Lara Porzak approaches the photographic image not simply as a representation of the world, but as a physical object shaped by time, light, and material transformation. Her photographs carry the visible traces of their making, revealing an attachment to traditional techniques that em

Jean-Pierre Laffont: Rebels with a Cause revisits a turbulent and transformative chapter in American history through the eyes of a photographer who arrived in the United States as both participant and observer. Born in France and settling in America during the 1960s, Jean-Pierre Laffont approached the country with the curiosity of an outsider and the sensitivity of someone immersed in its contradictions. Armed with a camera, he documented a generation determined to challenge authority, social co

Pamela Thomas-Graham: Stone by Morning

Sep 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Pamela Thomas-Graham: Stone by Morning

Pamela Thomas-Graham: Stone by Morning is a quiet invocation of Iceland’s elemental power, where geology and myth seem inseparable. In this luminous volume, Pamela Thomas-Graham turns her lens toward a land shaped by fire and ice, tracing how its stark terrain has nourished centuries of storytelling. Basalt cliffs rise like ancient fortresses, glaciers glow beneath low northern light, and distant horizons dissolve into mist. The photographs suggest that the landscape itself is sentient, holding

Newsha Tavakolian: And They Laughed at Me

Sep 2026 — Kehrer Verlag

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Newsha Tavakolian: And They Laughed at Me

Newsha Tavakolian: And They Laughed at Me is a bold and disarming return to the fragile beginnings of a photographer who would later gain international recognition. Instead of assembling a volume of celebrated images, Newsha Tavakolian turns to what she once dismissed as her “eyesores”—photographs made in her teenage years when she began working as a photojournalist in Tehran. Taken at sixteen, in the charged atmosphere of a country shaped by political tension and social constraint, these early

She went on to photograph in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania. The book brings together images made across these countries without emphasising national borders, focusing instead on shared landscapes

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Wolfgang Zurborn: Crowds

Wolfgang Zurborn: Crowds brings together photographic archives from the 1980s and 1990s for the first time. During the coronavirus lockdowns, Zurborn scanned hundreds of analogue colour negatives and developed the book and exhibition project Crowds. The period of reduced public activity allowed him to review this material with distance. The resulting images form a layered panorama of a society in transition, focused on the individual within social structures, collective dynamics, and media influ

Ben Marcin: The Holdouts

Aug 2026 — GOST Books

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Ben Marcin: The Holdouts

Ben Marcin: The Holdouts centers on places that persist at the edges of visibility—houses and encampments that remain, resist, or quietly fade in and around Baltimore and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The debut photobook gathers three distinct bodies of work: solitary row houses that somehow escaped demolition in the inner city; abandoned farmhouses where the last generations have died or moved away; and temporary homeless camps that rarely last more than a year before being cleared or dispersed.

Aug 2026 — Steidl

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Martin Schoeller: Drag Queens

.i>Martin Schoeller: Drag Queens presents close-up portraits of the most famous drag performers in America, from Brooke Lynn Hytes to Aquaria, using Schoeller’s signature tight framing to strip away spectacle and reveal the inner life of each subject. Over the last two decades, drag has moved from niche corners into the center of popular culture, aided by its photogenic appeal, but good portraits of drag queens must go beyond glitz and glamor to show the essence, diversity, and power of the arti

Andrea Modica: Italian Story

Jul 2026 — L'Artière

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Andrea Modica: Italian Story

Andrea Modica: Italian Story brings together a forty-year photographic journey through Italy, unfolding as a personal meditation on time, place, and the act of seeing. The work is made entirely with an 8×10 view camera, a choice that shapes the entire approach: the images are deliberate, slow, and grounded in presence, requiring the photographer to return to the same places over decades. This method produces photographs that carry the weight of duration and the sense of a relationship that deepe

Nigel Grierson: Theatre of Space Vol 1 collects street photographs taken in London during the early 1980s while Grierson studied at the Royal College of Art. Grierson’s work stands out for its use of flash in daylight, a technique that read as unconventional at th

For many years, German photographer Rainer Zerback has focused on the relationship between people, space, and historical change, and this series continues that investigation with a measured and observant approach. Rather than presenting the countryside as a nostalgic refuge removed from modern pressu

Justine Tjallinks: Vision

Jul 2026 — Skira

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Justine Tjallinks: Vision

Justine Tjallinks: Vision brings together a series of carefully composed portraits that challenge conventional ideas of beauty, identity, and representation. Drawing inspiration from the rich visual traditions of Flemish painting, Dutch artist Justine Tjallinks creates images defined by controlled lighting, sculptural poses, and an extraordinary attention to texture and detail. Her photographs unfold slowly, inviting contemplation rather than instant consumption. Each portrait appears suspended

Robin Bernstein: Mapalakata

Jul 2026 — Gost Books

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Robin Bernstein: Mapalakata

GOST Books is delighted to launch Robin Bernstein’s debut photobook MAPALAKATA, a nuanced exploration of landscape, memory, and the layered histories embedded within Southern Africa’s terrain. MAPALAKATA engages with the landscape through a visual reassessment of Mpumalanga province, South Africa, a region positioned on the escarpment bordering Mozambique and Eswatini. The title, meaning “visitors,” is drawn from oral histories and was historically used to describe traders from the East who m

Dayanita Singh: Forget Me Knot

Jul 2026 — Steidl

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Dayanita Singh: Forget Me Knot

Dayanita Singh: Forget Me Knot continues Dayanita Singh’s long-standing exploration of archives, memory, and the physical life of photographs. Known for transforming the photobook into an object that can be handled, rearranged, and experienced like a portable exhibition, Singh approaches the archive not simply as a repository of information, but as a poetic structure shaped by absence, repetition, and time. In this new volume, she turns her attention to the cloth-bound bundles that fill India’s

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Lynn Adler: And So We Moved to Petaca

Lynn Adler: And So We Moved to Petaca documents a rare intersection of cultures in the early 1970s, when several counterculture families from San Francisco and New York City moved to Petaca, a small village in Northern New Mexico, to adopt a traditional Nuevomexicano way of life. The village, home to about fifty very traditional Hispano families with roots in the area stretching back over a century, had no schools, no hospital, no stoplights—only one church, one bar, one dry-goods store, and a s

Frank Gohlke: Measure of Emptiness

Jun 2026 — Steidl

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Frank Gohlke: Measure of Emptiness

Frank Gohlke: Measure of Emptiness returns to print as a quietly powerful meditation on the American landscape and the structures that define it. First published in 1992, the book gathers photographs made by Frank Gohlke between 1972 and 1977 across the vast expanse of the Great Plains. Moving from Minnesota to the Texas Panhandle, Gohlke focused on one recurring form: the grain elevator. These towering industrial buildings, stark and monumental against open skies, become the visual and symbolic

Photographer Monographs and Art Books: Bruce Davidson: Circus

Bruce Davidson: Circus revisits one of the most compelling early chapters in the career of Bruce Davidson, offering a vivid journey into the world beneath the big top. Known for his deeply human approach to documentary photography and his long association with Magnum Photos, Davidson turns his lens here toward the circus, capturing not only spectacle but also the fragile, often overlooked lives that sustain it. Spanning work made between 1958 and 1967, the book gathers images that move between p
