Biography

Justine Georget‑Tazzolio is a French photographer based in Lyon. Trained in drawing and painting from an early age, she developed a sensitivity to gesture, materiality, and the folds of reality. This approach evolved alongside her academic studies, culminating in a research master’s degree on nineteenth‑century funerary architecture. In 2020, photography entered her life with her first camera, and with it a language that felt deeply her own, one she eventually made her profession.

Her work explores the shadow of the individual, the part that remains hidden, sometimes even from the subject. Giving precedence to emergence over rational intention, she lets instinct guide her gaze.

Primarily drawn to street photography, in both its poetic and documentary dimensions, she occasionally ventures into other territories. Her images embrace social scenes, crowds, collective tensions, as well as quiet atmospheres and latent presences.

Monochrome reduces light to its bare framework, creating a space where the pith and marrow of things can imprint themselves. She focuses on quiet tensions, raw edges, and subtle fractures, capturing fleeting moments when something unseen breaks through the visible.

Her images unfold between solitude, wandering, urban life, and the passage of time, revealing what escapes the first glance: a gesture, a presence, a rupture, an inner world.
