Although my path took a detour through music – spending several years as a bass player in a rock band – I fully returned to visual art in 2008. I have worked across commercial interior photography, real estate imagery education, and architectural 3D-tours. Today, living in Portugal, I am completely focused on my primary passion: fine-art nature photography, co-running an online fine-art gallery-grade prints with my wife. Photography is my vital tool to slow down and document the raw, weathered reality of the physical world.
Artist Statement
In my work, I explore the subtle boundaries between raw reality, landscape geometry, and the fleeting presence of time. Deeply rooted in the worldview of the wabi-sabi philosophy, my photography focuses on unpolished textures, weathered surfaces, and the quiet imperfections of the natural elements. Lately, my post-processing method gravitates toward film aesthetics. To achieve this, I have developed a series of custom presets emulating various legendary analog emulsions. Using these profiles as a creative starting point grants me a level of artistic freedom that traditional film cannot offer. I can fluidly combine the color rendering of one emulsion with the specific grain structure of another, blending them with meticulous digital darkroom techniques in Photoshop – such as local dodge-and-burn editing, vignettes, and contrast control. This hybrid approach serves as my personal manifesto against the sterile, hyper-clean perfection of the modern digital era, allowing me to evoke a state of solitary, deep contemplation and record an honest, indexical trace of the physical world.
