Since its opening in April, 1992, the Anderson Arts Center has welcomed thousands of visitors. The 9,000 square foot mansion that houses the Arts Center began life as a private residence, a fact that still fascinates new visitors to the facility. The majestic ceilings and large, open expanses of wall space, which were distinctive features of the mansion, now lend themselves perfectly to the display of art work.
PhotoMidwest was founded in 1998 as the Center for Photography at Madison to provide a home for photographic advancement in Madison and southern Wisconsin. Renamed in 2014 to reflect members interest in the growing Midwestern photographic community, PhotoMidwest and our biennial PhotoMidwest Festival is a volunteer organization providing a rich mix of education programs, including formal classes and workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and a series of regularly scheduled informal meetings of members and guests to discuss myriad photography topics.
