Announcing the Winner of the Photographer of the Week – Week 27, 2026

-No silk road- is a street photography series that offers a spontaneous, sharp, and humorous look at contemporary Central Asia. Moving away from the timeless imagery of the ancient trade routes, the project focuses directly on everyday street life and human interactions. Julien Drogoul captures unexpected visual dialogues, everyday paradoxes, and absurd or comical situations encountered along the way. The series captures the fleeting energy of the public space, highlighting the quirks and raw charm of ordinary moments.

This body of work was developed in parallel with a broader travelogue project. For that upcoming series, Julien Drogoul and his friend, photographer and tour guide Julien Beraha, spent a month exploring regions of central Asia in a vehicle purchased on-site. This project—developed jointly this time—is still under construction and is expected to be the subject of one or more exhibitions in 2027.
